This development is involved demolition of an existing single storey dwelling (also used as a medical facility) at 1 Percy Street, St Albans, and the construction of a mixed use development comprising a ground floor medical facility, a ground floor dwelling, and 2 first floor apartments, with associated car parking and landscaping work. It is a development that is considered to be appropriate to the lot, generous in terms of size, space, amenity and access, and well contextualised to the suburb of St Albans and the immediate local context of Brimbank.
The design blends the commercial nature of the area with the striking residential roof forms that also abound. The subsequent scheme is an intriguing blend of the two and offers an alternative and amenity-centric mode of living in the outer suburbs. Given the proximity to public transport and the adjacent St Albans station business zone it is an appropriately scaled and strategic response.
